What is Your Purpose in Life? A synopsis of The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
Preface
The following will be a synopsis of the book, The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, founding pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. Although Mr. Warren purposely quoted from several Bible translations (over 1,200 in all) in his book, this synopsis will primarily use the King James Version (KJV) or the New King James Version (NKJV), along with an exegesis of the text using its original language (Greek or Hebrew) when warranted.
This synopsis will be divided into 40 chapters according to the division that exists in Mr. Warren’s book. The main points will be listed (summarized), followed by notable quotes and then followed by the various Scripture passages used in the chapter. At the end of each chapter, this writer will state a conclusion and/or comments, as he believes appropriate.
The reader should be advised that Warren’s book is primarily focused on some of the “milk” doctrines of Scripture, teachings that are most suitable for newly “born again” (born from above) individuals (i.e., new Christians).
